If you're dreaming of a brand new kitchen for Christmas, here's the most important thing to know: the clock is already ticking.
Custom kitchens aren't built in a week. Between design, cabinetry production, stone fabrication, and installation, a properly built kitchen takes time — and the lead times in Southeast Queensland right now mean that if you haven't started a conversation yet, Christmas 2026 is the deadline you're working toward.
Here's what the timeline actually looks like.
The Real Timeline from Decision to Done
Most people underestimate how many stages sit between "we've decided" and "it's finished." Here's an honest breakdown of what happens and when:
Design & Documentation — 2 to 4 weeks
This is where everything begins. We meet with you, understand how you live, look at your space, and develop a design that genuinely works for your kitchen — not a template adapted to fit. Drawings, material selections, and your approval all happen here. Rushing this phase costs you later.
Cabinetry Production — 10 to 16 weeks
Once your design is signed off and your deposit is placed, your kitchen goes into production. Custom cabinetry in Southeast Queensland is currently running 10 to 16 weeks. This is the longest stage and the one that most often catches people out. Production cannot begin until design is finalised and approved — there are no shortcuts here.
Stone Fabrication — 8 to 14 weeks
Your benchtop — whether it's mineral stone, natural stone, or a porcelain slab — is selected and fabricated separately. Stone takes 8 to 14 weeks from selection to delivery, and the selection needs to happen early. Popular slabs sell out. Lead times for premium materials are longer. This runs concurrently with cabinetry production, but it needs to be locked in at the same time.
Installation — 1 to 2 weeks
Installation typically takes one to two weeks depending on the complexity of your kitchen, the trades involved, and what's being done with plumbing, electrical, and cabinetry. This is also when your appliances are connected and everything is finished and checked.
What Does This Mean for Christmas?
Add it up and you're looking at a minimum of 16 to 20 weeks from your first serious conversation to a finished kitchen — and that's with everything running smoothly.
If Christmas is the goal, you need to be in conversation now. Not next month. Now.
We're currently accepting new kitchen projects for Christmas completion, but availability is genuinely limited. Our production schedule fills in order of confirmed projects, and once our Christmas slots are full, the next available completion window moves into the new year.
